Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Medan & Transfer to Bukit Lawang
Arrive at Kualanamu International Airport in Medan. Meet your guide and take a scenic 4-hour drive past palm oil and rubber plantations to Bukit Lawang, located on the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park.
Day 2: Orangutan Jungle Trek
Embark on a full-day guided trek into the dense jungle. Look for wild and semi-wild Sumatran Orangutans, Thomas Leaf monkeys, gibbons, and hornbills. Return to the village via a fun traditional tube raft down the Bohorok River.
Day 3: Drive to Berastagi & Sipiso-piso Waterfall
Leave the jungle and drive to the cool highland town of Berastagi. Visit the colorful fruit market, then continue to the spectacular 120-meter Sipiso-piso waterfall overlooking Lake Toba.
Day 4: Lake Toba & Samosir Island
Take a ferry across Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world, to Samosir Island. Check into your lakeside resort. Spend the afternoon exploring traditional Batak villages and ancient stone tombs.
Day 5: Samosir Island Relaxation
Enjoy a free day to relax by the lake, rent a scooter to explore the island, or take a refreshing swim in the cool, clear waters of Lake Toba.
Day 6: Return to Medan & Departure
Take the morning ferry back to Parapat on the mainland. Drive back to Medan Airport for your flight out, bringing your wild Sumatran adventure to an end.
